Recorders were originally Renaissance flute-like instruments that have had a modern rebirth. There are generally seven different sizes of recorders being used today; ranging from the sopranino about nine inches in length to, soprano, alto, tenor, bass, great bass, and the largest, the contra-bass, about eight feet in length.

Many recorders are handmade using a variety of beautiful woods such as maple, boxwood, rosewood, or ebony. Today, recorders of quite excellent quality are also made in plastic as well as wood. There is no limit to the musical artistry that can be achieved on this excellent instrument.

Membership in the Rio Grande Recorder Chapter is $15 per year.   Treasurer:  Carol Ann Council
